About SHANE
I design learning that actually works.
Not just content people click through, but experiences that change how people think, make decisions, and perform on the job.
I’ve worked across operations, sales, training, and instructional design, which gives me a different lens than most. I don’t start with content—I start with the problem. What’s not working? Where are people getting stuck? And is training even the right solution?
From there, I build practical, scalable learning aligned to real business outcomes. I focus on application—scenario-based learning and decision-making that reflects real work.
My experience includes onboarding, systems training, compliance, and enterprise initiatives. Everything is designed to scale, stay relevant, and drive performance.
At the end of the day, I build learning that people use, leaders trust, and that moves the business forward.

How i approach enterpise learning
I believe people don’t learn by being told, they learn by doing.
That’s why I lean heavily into storytelling and scenario-based design. Instead of asking learners to memorize information, I put them in situations where they have to think, make decisions, and experience the consequences in a safe environment.
This approach isn’t just a preference; it’s backed by research.
In Make It Stick, long-term retention comes from retrieval, application, and effort rather than passive review. In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, real growth happens through active engagement and self-driven discovery.
But effective learning doesn’t stop at engagement, it starts with clarity.
I design learning with Bloom’s Taxonomy in mind, focusing on measurable performance objectives that go beyond knowledge recall. Often times, learning objectives are written in a way that can’t be measured, or they are vague, making it nearly impossible to prove success or scale a solution. If you can’t measure the outcome, you can’t validate the impact.
That’s why every solution I build is aligned to real, observable behaviors—what someone should be able to do differently after the learning experience, not just what they should know.
I also take a blended learning approach to meet learners where they are. Not everyone learns the same way or works in the same environment. Some people prefer reading, others learn through video, and some need hands-on, shoulder-to-shoulder guidance. Some employees sit at desks all day, while others are constantly on the move.
Effective learning accounts for all of it. So that’s what I design for:
Learning that feels real.
Learning that adapts to the learner.
Learning that drives measurable results and actually sticks.
Designs that work
Gamification Done Intentionally
I use gamification as a tool, not a solution.
When designed correctly, it can be one of the most effective ways to drive engagement, critical thinking, and behavior change. When used poorly, it becomes additional noise points, worthless badges, and competition without a purpose. The difference comes down to intention.
Every game element should support a specific learning or performance outcome.
Gamification should never exist without purpose. It should directly tie to measurable results.
Beyond the Work
Outside of learning design, I am driven by the same mindset. I like building, creating, and refining.
I enjoy cooking and have competed in multiple and won chili cook offs. Whether I am smoking brisket, ribs, whole chickens, or salmon, I approach it the same way I approach learning design. I focus on dialing in the process, experimenting intentionally, and continuously improving the outcome.
I also come from a creative background in music. I played in multiple bands across rock, metal, and reggae. That experience led me to build a full recording studio in my basement, where I developed skills in production, sound design, and eventually storytelling. Those same skills carry directly into how I design engaging learning experiences today.
That creative work has expanded into video and audio production. I’ve recorded video podcasts, travel videos and participate in a creative writing group where I collaborate with others to review and discuss scripts. These experiences sharpen how I think about structure, pacing, and storytelling, which are core elements of effective learning design.
I have also completed professional voiceover work for corporate promotional videos used with shareholders and vendors. It has helped me develop a strong sense of tone, clarity, and delivery in the content I create.
In 2024, I built a full gym in my garage and continue to replace and expand upon it each year, even though I am told there is no more room. This reflects a mindset of consistency, discipline, and long-term investment.
I also enjoy attending concerts with friends, traveling, hiking, and photography. If I am on the road, I always have a camera with me. More recently, I started flying drones for aerial photography, adding another layer to how I capture and tell visual stories.
At the core, whether it is learning design, content creation, or something outside of work, I am always focused on building things that are intentional, functional, and continuously improving.
